ezCAN PURE Universal Accessory Manager

The HEX PURE Universal Accessory Manager is a solution to connect multiple devices to almost any motorcycle or 12v-powered vehicle and control those devices independently.

What does the HEX PURE do?

The PURE connects to the battery and provides four 12v power circuits to different devices. These could be auxiliary lights, extra indicators, an extra horn, an additional brake light etc.
Each circuit is independent of the others, and all are individually controlled.
The function of each circuit is determined by the HEX ezCAN Accessory Manager software (PC only).

Compatibility

The ezCAN PURE is a universal solution, intended to support those motorcycles that do not have a CAN bus compatible with a bike-specific ezCAN.

But, on some modern motorcycles, functions such as the headlight and brake lights are increasingly controlled digitally and may not provide analogue 12V trigger signals that the PURE can use.

Check your motorcycle’s specifications before purchasing an ezCAN PURE.

How does the PURE know what to do, and when?

The PURE requires control/trigger input wires which detect the activation of the original components.

e.g. To switch on the auxiliary lights with the main beam, the PURE has a control wire connected to the main beam to detect the use of the main beam and then activate the lights.

e.g. To activate an extra horn, the PURE has a control wire connected to the original horn to detect the use of the horn and then activate the extra horn.

Similarly, there are control wires for the indicators and brake light.

The PURE is programmed using the ezCAN PC software which allows you to set the function of each output, and the polarity and threshold of the input controls.

The ezSWITCH is an optional handlebar-mounted controller that provides a manual control of your accessories.

Functionality Exceptions

• Brake light pulsing during engine braking or emergency braking: not supported.
• Independent Day/Night auxiliary light intensity: not supported. This is because the HEX ezCAN PURE does not have a light sensor.

What is special about the White output circuit: "ezBUS"?

The four PURE outputs are identified by colour: red, blue, yellow, white.

In addition to being a programmable power output, the white circuit can also transmit digital control data to ezBUS adapters or devices with in-built ezBUS receivers.
ezBUS adapters act as intelligent relays allowing individual control (power) to be supplied to up to 15 other low-power devices.

These can all be activated independently, thereby increasing the maximum number of possible accessories to 18!

What’s in the box?

1. HEX ezCAN PURE device. Includes four programmable colour-code outputs and one white 6-pin JWPF female input connector.
2. Generic Control/input harness kit 1.8m:
   - Input harness with a white 6-pin JWPF male connector. This includes six input wires for detection of Ignition, High beam, Horn, Left & Right turn signal, and Brake.
   - Posi-taps for cable jointing x 6
   - Protective braid, thick x 4m
   - Protective braid, thin x 4m
   - Heatcshrink tubing, thick x 1
   - Heatcshrink tubing, short x 4
3. USB C-to-USB C cable with included USB C-to-USB A adaptor
4. Power-output blanking plugs to close/protect unused power circuit connectors x 3
5. 2-wire stub connectors (Black/Orange wiring), pre-wired into connectors x 4
6. 1-wire terminal wires (Orange), with pre-crimped contacts x 4
7. Rubber blanking seals, to seal unused contact holes in connectors
8. Cable ties x 20

Installation

Briefly, the installation process is:

1. Install the PURE in a suitable location.
2. Make the input connections from the PURE input wires to the control sources are required.
3. Install the output connectors on the accessories as necessary and connect to the PURE output circuits.
4. Configure the PURE with the PC software.

ezCAN PURE Plug & Play Cables

For compatible bikes, a Plug and; Play cable facilitates the installation process. It is used instead of the Generic Input cable already included with the Hex PURE Accessory Manager.

What is the difference between the HEX ezCAN and the HEX PURE?

Some modern bikes have a digital CAN bus network that transmits digital messages around the various controllers on the bike.
The ezCAN listens to those messages and activates the power outputs as programmed….no control wires needed for most applications!

However, as these messages are not standardised, each ezCAN is only compatible with those specific motorcycles listed.
